Out on a very cold day last December, near Montrose Harbor in Chicago.

I made a series of belts out of a edging rubber - that rubber moulding sold in strips at most home improvement stores. They functioned well for a few years, but the material just doesn't have enough strength against tears, and over time the sizing holes tore through.

They looked nice for a while, but they just weren't strong enough. So I remade them out of a synthetic leather material, significantly stronger, but tougher to work with.
